Lead Installer & Safety Coordinator
Barry is a Red Seal-certified carpenter with extensive hands-on experience in timber construction. He contributes to fabrication, raising, and fine detailing on Bugaboo’s playground and heavy timber projects.
As site safety coordinator, Barry helps maintain safe, efficient jobsite operations and supports consistent project delivery.
Jonah Schmunk
Founder & Project Lead
Jonah Schmunk is the founder and project lead of Bugaboo Designs Ltd., a BC-based design-build company specializing in natural playground construction and custom timber structures.
A Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), Jonah brings over a decade of hands-on experience in timber fabrication, playground construction, and large-scale site-built installations across British Columbia and beyond. His background includes work on landmark timber projects such as the Malahat Skywalk tower and the Kinsol Trestle, along with numerous municipal and school playground installations.
Jonah leads project coordination, layout, shop drawing review, and on-site construction management, ensuring each project meets safety standards, structural requirements, and long-term durability expectations.
Project-Based Collaboration
Bugaboo Designs works with a trusted network of structural engineers, specialty trades, and certified installers to assemble project teams based on scope and requirements. Each project is coordinated and led in-house to ensure alignment between design intent, engineering, fabrication, and site execution.
